Key bits are these:

  • Intensely resolve financial and administrative issues of collaboration among universities at the start of a project or ideally beforehand.
  • Sorting and publishing documentation on an ongoing basis is key to distributed development. That includes noting credit and giving thanks.
  • Being as welcoming as possible to crowdsourced contributions helps create opportunities to recruit and retain volunteer participation.
