I would like vote again for linking to Google and not to MoNA, sounds a little bit like self citation... |

Agree, idea of SPLASH was to do global search not just single resource ... a la InChIKey going to Google ...

dear all,
I don't we ever required to link splash to MoNa, I think the idea was
always to easily keep track of existing mass bank records and link against
the original records from MassBank, to give due credit to the ownership,
who provided the spectra. @sajjan Singh Mehta <ssmehta@ucdavis.edu> any
feedback?
all the best,
Gert

Hi all, I believe MoNA was originally linked to by MassBank (and by HMDB as well) because there was no other dedicated SPLASH resolver. We built one a while back that would look up a record id and InChIKey for a given SPLASH with the goal that all participating databases would add their SPLASHes to it and keep it updated, but it never really took off. I still think a resolver is more appropriate and useful if there's any interest in revisiting this, but Google does work quite well as long databases are being indexed properly. |

Hi, I think the link to MoNA was choosen for whatever historic reason, mainly because there was no resolver and the depth of indexing was quite flat. Hence, @Treutler and @meier-rene could you change the dispatcher to google and deprecate the MoNA link, please? We have some problems with indexing, only 5000 records are indexed properly, but I will create a new sitemap script in order to help the bots a little bit. The old parser was related to old DB structure and queries. Best wishes |

SPLASH is still dispatched to MoNA. I suggest to switch to Google because SPLASH should appear more and more.
